‘Why Sunday Matters’: The Irish Bishops in a recent pastoral letter asked us to reflect on – Why Sunday Matters. There is the danger that we take our Sunday Mass Celebration for granted without reflecting on its importance to our lives as Catholics. St. Michael’s Pastoral Team will host four Monday nights in November 3rd; 10th; 17th & 24th to reflect on this topic – each night reflecting on a different part of the Mass. It will take place at St. Michael’s Pastoral Centre 7.30pm to 8.30pm each night. All are welcome.
Book Launch: a book of “stories and memories” of St Michael’s AFC by Gay Lowry. will be launched on Thursday the 30th October in the function room in the Porter House at 8pm. Thanks to the generosity of Archdeacon Cooke and the local religious authorities who in 1947 the club received their playing ground at the back of the church, thus the name St Michael’s. All are welcome.
Safeguarding. “Even when the path forward is difficult and demanding, I urge you not to get bogged down; keep reaching out, keep trying to instil confidence in those you meet and who share with you this common cause. Do not grow discouraged when it seems that little is changing for the better. Persevere and keep moving forwards!” Inspired by Pope Francis’ words, this new child safeguarding policy builds on the foundations of past learning and experiences. The policy provides a new focus on leadership and governance to embed a culture of safeguarding. To view the churches Safeguarding polices please visit www.cashel-emly.ie
| Cathedral Roof Project: The Cathedral of the Assumption Thurles is the Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Cashel & Emly and the seat of the Archbishop. It is the symbol of the unity of the 46 parishes of the diocese, especially when we gather for diocesan events and celebrations. It is in need of some repair and particularly a New Roof at a total cost of €2.5 million. As it is a diocesan church we are all asked to help with this project. Individuals can make a personal contribution towards this cost or buy a slate. Details are in the brochure at the back of the church and you are invited to take one home. |
