Lenten Trócaire Boxes: Are now available at the back of the church. Please take one home as a reminder of our Lenten Journey, and how my small sacrifices of fasting and doing without can, help in Trocaire’s work worldwide.

Covid 19:  As nearly all Covid 19 restrictions have been lifted, we would ask you to continue to sanitise your hands on entering the church. and encourage the wearing of masks when there is a congregation present.

We would still prefer people to take Holy Communion on the hand for the present.  Holy Water will return to the fonts soon.

Parish Lotto:  Congratulations to Thomas Wade, the lucky winners of €50 this week.  Jackpot will be €2,250 next week.  To join the Lotto, go to the Website www.stmichaelsparishtipperary.ie and press the Lotto Button.

Pilgrimage to San Giovanni: for the 20th Anniversary of the Canonisation of Padre Pio on 14th June 2022 for 4 nights – €725 per person.  Spiritual Director: Rev. Eugene Everard.  For more information contact Helen English 062 52092.

Parish Office & Pastoral Centre: Last year the parish applied for planning permission to have the former priest’s house on St. Michael’s Street converted into a Parish Office and Pastoral Centre. Having received planning permission and developed plans for its use, we are ready to begin work very soon. Significant work will need to be carried out to upgrade the building to make it safe and suitable as a Parish Pastoral Centre. We believe this development is very important for the Administration and the Pastoral Development of our parish.  It will cost €140k and thankfully the parish can cover the cost without getting a loan.  Starting the St. Michael’s Parish Lotto last year was a way of supporting parish funds for projects like this and it is not intended to have any further fundraising for this project. It is estimated that the Lotto will bring in €30k per annum. The successful candidate for the project, after a tendering process, is Caplan Construction, Bansha. It is envisaged that this project should be ready by the end of the summer.

REFLECTION: Lent represents the struggle of our earthy pilgrimage before the Easter season which celebrates our sharing with Jesus in the joys of redemption.  It is very appropriate that the gospel for the first Sunday of Lent is the story of Jesus, led by the Spirit into the desert, entering into conflict with the devil. It reassures us that in our struggle with evil we are not alone.  Jesus has entered into that conflict and has conquered evil.
